Black Sails Capital

Black Sails Capital is a permanent-capital holding company based in Malvern, Pennsylvania. We acquire and hold small, family-owned businesses in the Philadelphia suburbs.

The firm was founded by an operator with a background in investment banking and corporate development M&A, after years of watching traditional private equity buy small businesses, strip them, and resell them. We believed there should be a different option for the owners who built those businesses. So we built it.

We believe the businesses that built American main streets deserve capital partners who think in decades, not in fund cycles. We believe employees are not line items. We believe the right buyer for most family-owned businesses is a permanent home, not a temporary one. We believe acquisition conversations should be honest, fair, and slow.

We acquire businesses in pet services, martial arts and fitness, and adjacent small-business categories in eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. We also operate an advisory practice for owners who aren't ready to sell, or may never be. The two are deliberately kept separate; we don't include acquisition options in advisory agreements.
